Our Mission
Carina was a dedicated public servant who built community wherever she went. In her name, her friends and family will honor her memory through the Carina Mae Owens Scholarship Fund to build cohorts of Carina Mae Scholars that advance social justice, health equity, cancer research and Filipino American community issues across California and the nation.

The Carina Mae Owens Scholarship Fund was established by Carina’s best friend, Dr. Angelica Cortez, and continues to be maintained by grassroots fundraising efforts through networks of friends, family members and organizational partners.
